The last couple of days were mostly uneventful. Chebri and her partner in unprovoked aggression (one Gengiskahn) seem willing to travel a bit, and have displayed basic prowess with locator agents, so I amused myself by traveling to distant systems, picking up ships that needed relocating closer to the war front, waiting for Chebri to show up in system, and then going home.
They also seem willing to camp fairly patiently, so I have spent some quality time watching TV with the girlfriend, looking in from time to time to make sure that the camp was still in place. I’m always impressed by how patiently aggressive EVE players will sit outside of a station waiting for somebody who’s AFK.
Tonight Chebri and I lobbed a few missiles at each other. She was flying a speed-enhanced Blackbird EWAR cruiser, and flying it well enough to disrupt cruise missile operations somewhat. Still, despite her EWAR I got her into structure once. If I were a balls-to-the-wall combat pilot I think it should have been a kill, but my cautious reflexes had me warping as soon as she got into heavy missile range.
Once Ghengiskahn showed up, the game of dancing triangles started to get tricky, so I decided to share some quality camping time with them, and docked to write this blog post.
The other thing that has become clear is that the war is an AC-ME operation in all but name — Chebri is frequently accompanied by AC-ME members as she chases me around. The AC-ME mining vessels in my system look more and more tempting the longer I spend on a war footing. I’ve suggested to Cordus that he may want to consider getting this situation under control, but there’s been no response as yet.
In other news, a small outfit (five members) named UNDER-OATH has also declared war. Since they’ve made no demands and expressed no hostility, I can only assume they were recruited by AC-ME, or have been hired by someone else Ironfleet has offended.

Mr. Marlenus,
I was gone for about a week due to end of year responsibilities, so I apologize for not responding sooner.
I did not ask Chebri and Genghis to do what they did, and I do not know how long they will intend to do it. I also do not know how long you intend to maintain your war against Independent Faction. I do hope that the wars are not bloody and permanent. However, war is probably an appropriate state for our two corporations at this time.
I am peaceful at heart, but the thought has often crossed my mind how it would be handier for our security to engage Ironfleet at will instead of having to wait for the particular moment at which Concord officially recognizes the diversion of our ore as theft. (Concord indicates this by looking the other way at potential retaliation.) In the past that moment was chosen by the pilots of Ironfleet — truely a tactical advantage. A state of war wouldn’t really give us much advantage, but at least it would feel more like a level playing field should we encounter you in the belts.
Perhaps too it is more honest. As long as Ironfleet pilots intercept the ore as it travels from AC-ME mining lasers to AC-ME haulers, it is difficult for us to be at peace.
Yours in good faith,
Cordus

UNDER-OATH acted independently. There were no plans or discussions between Equilibrium and UNDER-OATH.
Marlenus, you assume many things that are not true. I’ve not war dec’d you to grief you or to get kills on a kill board. I’m not going to camp you into a station where I have no mission or mining business. This is not a typical EVE war. This is pure theft-prevention.

It does appear that UNDER-OATH was acting on behalf of a different aggrieved party, who may have reined them in once they made the mistake of identifying the real party in interest.
Cordus, as always I appreciate your courtesy. However, I continue to believe that Chebri is acting in your interest, regardless of how that decision was made or who was responsible for it. Since she clearly has your interests at heart, I continue to think that military operations against AC-ME represent my best way of exerting pressure to shorten this war. I’m confident AC-ME has the power to persuade her to end her vendetta, and thus for the time being I’ll continue my efforts to persuade you to use that power to shorten this war for all of us.
